Editorial

This issue contains the minutes from the AGM at the 27th Annual Conference on the 24th February at the LSE in London. Christina Pantazis recorded the minutes.

Three of the articles in this issue, from Bharti Patel, Frank Wilkinson and Hartley Dean, are based on presentations given at the conference which was on the theme of low pay.

We have a few items under 'news and comment', including a new essay competition for 2002, and a letter from Walter Barker which continues the debate that was raised in issue number 76, and at the AGM, about the 'core' aims of Radical Statistics.

I would like to thank Christina Pantazis and Mary Shaw for doing such a good job with the newsletter during the last two years and wish them well with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation projects they are both involved in.

The next issue, number 78, will be a 'special issue' on various aspects of the 2001 census. Brief abstracts should reach me by June 15th 2001 and final articles to me by August 20th 2001 please.

Finally, if anyone would like to join me as Editor for 2001-2003 I would be very glad to hear from them.
